A fictional project for the Masters of Design program at UNSW.

A research led, human centred design approach aiming to combat struggles faced with long distances relationships (of any form) whist highlighting communication styles we adopt.

GlobeChat is an app which harnesses all the aspects from existing communicating platforms which users enjoyed and responded to well, designing these all to exist within the one app. Encompassing the use of chat functions, calls, photo sharing. Whilst also exploring the potential of scheduling calls as a means to help combat timezones and struggles with constantly just missing the friend, partner, parent or family member you were so looking forward to chatting to.

Speculatively designed to have an extra feature of a ‘portal’ which would be installed within the users home. The portal, a large interactive screen, would be used to view when people are available, see different timezones people are in and then act as a video call platform. Looking to give off the effect they are in the room with you.
